Vitalacy is a heath technology company committed to reducing patient harm in healthcare. We use automated technology solutions to improve patient outcomes, protect the workforce, and promote quality and safety measures that save lives.
Focused on preventing healthcare-acquired infections and conditions (HAIs and HACs) with smart sensors and wearables, Vitalacy is led by CEO and Cofounder Janel Nour-Omid, who was inspired to start Vitalacy after losing her grandfather to an HAI. These infections affect 1 in 31 hospitalized patients and cause more deaths each year than prostate cancer and breast cancer combined, according to the Centers for Disease Prevention and Control (CDC).
Janel vowed to prevent harm to patients and reduce the suffering endured by their families. Coupling her computer science and product development experience with her deep fascination with human behavior, she launched the Vitalacy Patient Safety Platform – designed to protect patients from preventable infections and conditions. The platform’s wearable technology can monitor hand hygiene compliance, provide hand hygiene reminders to care providers, track nurse rounding and workflow activity, and assess nurse fatigue risk to reduce the chances of medical errors. Vitalacy’s wearable is the only option on the market that can measure the true duration of a hand wash.
Headquartered in Los Angeles, Vitalacy partners with hospitals worldwide, assisting them to improve quality and safety measures. By gathering hand hygiene compliance data in real-time, the company gives hospitals an accurate and comprehensive picture of baseline performance, as well as the tools to improve performance and reduce infections. Having true and transparent data on compliance offers a powerful and sustainable foundation for healthcare organizations and their patients to thrive.
Revolutionary in its field, Vitalacy's technology seamlessly integrates hand washing into patient care workflow. This technology has been tested and installed in hospital and ambulatory care facilities.
At Vitalacy, we are committed to reducing healthcare-acquired infections, falls and other adverse events causing harm to patients during hospitalization. Studies show that racial and ethnic minorities, as well as individuals living under less-than-optimal social and economic conditions, have less access to preventative care and are more likely to be hospitalized with serious medical conditions. Vitalacy helps hospitals to keep these patients safe by developing solutions that improve hand hygiene among clinical staff, reduce the risk of infection and falls, and improve safety in other ways.
Vitalacy team members develop these solutions within a diverse, equitable and inclusive (DE&I) work environment. Our team members represent DE&I in race, ethnicity, age, gender, religion, education and more. Our team also applies DE&I principles to how we collaborate, allowing employees the freedom to learn from each other, challenge each other, and innovate for the good for our customers. This work culture enables us to adapt to changing circumstances and grow as a company. We look forward to a future in which our team will be as diverse, equitable and inclusive as our customers.
Vitalacy is committed to reducing patient harm in healthcare by developing and implementing IoT enabled wearables and the operational intelligence they give to hospitals. Patient harm in healthcare has continued to decline in the past decade, and Vitalacy is proud to be an active participant in accelerating that decline.
Vitalacy is committed to delivering outstanding customer value by providing quality healthcare products and services that consistently meet the needs of our customers and the patients they serve. A quality-focused environment is created and maintained by deploying our Total Quality approach valued by our customers, employees, and community.
Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion
Every day, we’re focused on building a more diverse and inclusive company, one that recognizes, values, and respects the differences we all bring to the workplace. Health disparities and biases between patient groups in healthcare can be lessened by our transparent collection of quality measures. This is one of the many ways we make healthcare run better, together.
To keep people and the planet safe and healthy, we’re committed to building a future where healthcare operates more sustainably. That’s why we’re investing in green technologies that can lower our carbon footprint and creating practical solutions that help conserve natural resources and reduce waste. Our actions are lightening our ecological footprint and helping our partners to do the same.
